Portuguese windmills are a charming relict of the past. Some are 300 years old and not all are so well maintained like this one. Just put the sails on and it can grind flour again.
We have been very creative in finding ways to hike along the European coast. Seeing a sign that shows that we are actually following the European long-distance path E9, always makes us happy.
Do you notice something? This small stretch of sand between the cliff and the sea would disappear one hour later, making it impossible to take this beautiful path. The turn of the tide becomes an important factor when you walk at the coast.
One imagines that a costal hike is always flat. We have climbed so many hills during our trip – not the most fun thing to do, but totally rewarded by the magnificent views.
Portuguese beaches are paradise on earth. Pity that they are always so crowded!
Boring hiking trail? Yes. But so much better than hiking in soft sand, which we did for some km before finding this road!
